University of Rome Tor Vergata was established in 1982 and is therefore a relatively young University. It was designed on the model of Anglo-Saxon campuses: it stretches on 600 hectares and hosts important research institutions, such as National Research Council – CNR and the Italian Space Agency – ASI.
The university is composed of 6 faculties: the School of Economics, the School of Humanities and Philosophy, the School of Mathematical, Physical, and Natural Sciences, the School of Engineering, the School of Law and the School of Medicine and Surgery.
The Master of Science in Biotechnology program is offered by the Department of Biology, which is part of the School of Sciences.
