Italian students, Italian and EU students holding a foreign title and non-EU students residing in Italy and holding a foreign title
The call for enrollment in the A.Y. 2024-2025 is now available here, together with a summary of deadlines and obligations. It is still possible to enroll in the second semester until March 31, 2025.
A B2 or equivalent certificate of English is mandatory. If a certificate of English is not available, students must contact the Coordinator of the Degree in order to set a date for an English test.
All candidates (Italian or foreign) holding a foreign qualification must include in their application:
1) Academic qualification obtained at a higher education institution which allows the continuation of studies at the next level at the relevant academic institutions in the country where it is achieved
2) the final degree must mandatorily be accompanied by the Statement of Comparability issued by CIMEA (to be requested online at the following link: https://cimea.diplo-me.eu/torvergata/#/auth/login )
3) certificate issued by the competent University attesting the exams passed (transcript) with official translation into Italian or English (for courses taught in English) or Diploma Supplement, if adopted;

Non EU students holding a non EU degree and requiring a visa:

Pre-Enrollment
Non-EU students holding an International foreign title (BSC) interested to apply to The Master of Science in Biotechnology must undergo through a two-step assessment of their qualification:
First Step – Preliminary assessment
The preliminary assessment of admission requirements must be requested through an online procedure at delphi.uniroma2.it. At this stage, the student must provide a copy of their university degree diploma, the complete transcripts of the exams, a copy of the identity document and any other document useful for assessing the qualification (Syllabus of the course, letters of recommendation, CV, indications about previous laboratory experiences and any document proving additional experiences).
Candidates whose qualification does not provide clear certification of all the skills considered essential for admission (see the Admission Requirements section of this website) will be asked for an interview to verify their preliminary knowledge.
The evaluation of the qualification can only be carried out after the payment of the 30 Euro fee. A guide to the payment is available at https://web.uniroma2.it/en/contenuto/pago_pa_tutorial76126 . Students will have the possibility to upload their documents from February 6, 2024, to May 31, 2024.
It is suggested that the following documents be included in the optional documentation.
– CIMEA Statement of Verification (to be obtained from the link: https://www.cimea.it/pagina-attestati-di-comparabilita-e-verifica-dei-titoli) (the qualification issuing service should resume at the end March 2024)
– CIMEA Statement of Comparability (to be obtained from the link: https://www.cimea.it/pagina-attestati-di-comparabilita-e-verifica-dei-titoli), for candidates holding qualifications issued by countries not signatories to the Lisbon Convention*. Please, note that the processing time for CIMEA Statement of Verification and/or Comparability is 60 working days. Therefore, submit your application as soon as possible;
– Statement of Correspondence, downloadable from the ARDI platform (https://ardi.cimea.it/en) for candidates holding qualifications issued by countries not signatories to the Lisbon Convention*;
The submission of these documents in the pre-rollment phase is not mandatory, but please note that their possession can facilitate the subsequent visa issuing procedure, as admitted candidates will have to upload these documents on the Universitaly platform, to request the visa and to registration.

Second Step – Verification of actual skills
Students who will pass this preliminary step will be admitted to an online test aimed at verifying the actual skills in the subjects defined as fundamental for admission (see the Admission Requirements section of this website). The online Evaluation Test will be held on 6 June 2024 (from 9:00 to 17:00, Italian time).
Students will receive an e-mail informing them that they have passed this first assessment step and that will communicate access to the moodle platform where the Assessment Test will be carried out. Each applicant will be able to access the platform using as username the fiscal code obtained during the registration procedure and the password that they will find in the personal area of the Delphi site.
Applicants will find on the moodle page a Training Test (available from the end of April 2024) that simulates the test that will take place in June. All students are recommended to try out the Training Test. The test includes a number of multiple choice questions ( with only one correct answer) on:
- Biochemistry
- Genetics
- Cell Biology
- Molecular Biology
- Microbiology
- Immunology and Human and Plant Physiology.
The test must be completed in a fixed time.To facilitate the preparation for the test, we attach a document that describes the basic knowledge expected by the applicants to the course, with reference to the subjects covered in the assessment test. Syllabus for moodle test
The course foresees a maximum number of 60 students and a reserve of 20 places for foreign students. Students who participate in the test answering correctly less than 50% of the multichoice questions, will not be admitted to the course in any case. In the event that the test highlights training deficiencies in specific subjects, admission may be conditioned to a further oral verification.
In case, deficit in preparation should be identified, it will be required to agree on a study path for the acquisition of the missing skills to be agreed with the course teachers. Overcoming these shortcomings is mandatory for the attendance of the course. Students admitted to the course will receive, within some days after the test, a letter of acceptance necessary to complete the subsequent procedures necessary to make admission to the course effective.
Subsequent steps to complete enrollment:
1. Students having received the letter of admission will be requested to fill out the pre-enrollment application online through the Universitaly portal at the following link: https://www.universitaly.it/index.php/students/stranieri. Pre-enrolment procedures on this site must be completed by 31 July 2024
The fulfillment of this application is mandatory to obtain the issuance of the Visa to enter Italy for study purposes from the Embassy or Consulate in their countries,
When filling out the application in the Universitaly site, please indicate:
– the University of Rome Tor Vergata as your chosen University;
– the University Course you have been admitted to;
– the Embassy/Consulate where you will apply for an entry Visa to Italy.
The mandatory required documents for the pre-enrollment are passport of the applicant, the admission letter and the Statement of Comparability of the final academic degree issued by CIMEA which allows to enrol in a Master of Science/Art Degree in Italy, to be requested online at the following link: https://cimea.diplo-me.eu/torvergata/#/auth/login
The International Students Office will check the authenticity of the documents provided. In the event that the documents requested are not provided or are deemed incomplete, students will not be allowed to enrol. For non-EU citizens with residency abroad who are applying for a study visa, the admission letter does not substitute the official pre-enrolment procedures, which must be completed via Universitaly (www.universitaly.it) by 31 July 2024. When submitting the pre-enrolment request, candidates must upload their Statement of Comparability of the final academic degree issued by CIMEA; if the Statement of Comparability meets the eligibility requirements for enrolment, the University will validate the pre-enrolment request.
2. Contact the Italian Diplomatic Representatives in your country to finalize the pre-enrolment by the deadline indicated by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (Miur) available at the following link https://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/ to obtain the Study Visa. Embassies are flooded with a large number of visa applications, and it can take a long time to process your application. Considering that the course starts at the end of September it is necessary to anticipate the visa application as much as possible.
3. Finalize the procedure by formalizing enrollment at the University of Rome Tor Vergata at http://delphi.uniroma2.it and pay the first installment within the expected deadline. Check all necessary steps and documents at https://web.uniroma2.it/en/percorso/admissions/sezione/how_to_apply
IMPORTANT
Admission of applicants with a foreign degree is subject to the submission of all required documents for the enrollment to the International Students Office as listed below:
- Original copy of the final academic degree;
- Official transcript of records or Diploma Supplement issued by the University and legalized by the Italian Diplomatic Representation.
- Statement of Comparability of the final academic degree issued by CIMEA, which can be requested online at the following link:

The Statement of Comparability is issued on the basis of an agreement between CIMEA and the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Instructions to request the Statement of Comparability:
- Register at the link cimea.diplo-me.eu/torvergata
- Activate your account by following the instructions that you will receive by e-mail after the on-line registration
- Enter again in the system with your email address and password.
- Click on “Comparability” (on the left side of the screen)
- Upload the required documents
CIMEA NARIC Italia will send the original Statement of comparability in PDF both at the email address indicated in the Application form and directly at our university (to grant us the validity of the qualification itself) in 15 working days from the acceptance of the request. The obtained statement of compatibility can even be upload during the pre-enrollment process on the Universitaly portal.
