The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a point system that makes international education more easily comparable across borders. ECTS system has been adopted by countries signed up to the EHEA (European Higher Education Area), including Italy.
ECTS credits, indicate the required workload to complete a study programme, or a module within a study programme, regardless the grade.
1 ECTS corresponds to 25 to 30 hours of student effort
In Italy, the workload for earning the degree is measured in CFU (Credito Formativo Universitario), with a single CFU equating to 25 hours of student effort, so 1CFU = 1ECTS
These hours can be organized as follows:
1) 8 hours of classroom teaching + 17 hours of individual study,
2) 12 hours of laboratory work + 13 hours of individual study,
3) 25 hours of internship.
The Master of Science in Biotechnology program lasts two years. To complete the program a total of 120 credits (CFU) must be acquired. The credits are divided as show in Didactic table XXXBOTTONEXXX
